To remain competitive, industrial companies in the Textile Apparel network must deal with major changes that affect their activity. They need to revise their product design by taking the solutions provided by innovation into account in order to develop new products and enter new markets. But innovation does not necessarily mean technological breakthroughs. It also involves speeding up collection turnover, personalising products and establishing international production networks. By creating a Finishing Engineering Platform, IFTH has made shared, quick-prototyping means available to companies, at the level of both technical skills and the design tools required.

Within the framework of the 2000-2006 State-Region contract, three major steps were taken to set up the platform:
-  Set-up of a preparation and dyeing shop
-  Creation of a pilot digital printing shop
-  Set-up of a functionalisation shop
