Today, the candidate list includes Eight new substances

On 18 June 2010, ECHA added eight new substances to the list of candidate substances to be authorised:

- Four chromic salts
(Sodium Chromate, Potassium Chromate, Ammonium Dichromate and Potassium Dichromate):
These substances can be used in the textile industry as a mordant, specifically during dyeing with natural or mordant dyes, as an oxidising agent, specifically with sulphur dyes, or in the fabrication of dyes. Note that the first two uses were widely replaced by other techniques in European industrial processes.

- Three brominated components
(Boric Acid, Disodium Tetraborate, Anhydrous, and Tetraboron Disodium Heptaoxide, Hydrate):
They can be used as ingredients in fibreglass and as a flame-retardant agent, specifically in cellulose (insulation panels, fillers) and cotton for non-fast treatments.

- Trichloroethylene:
This substance can be used as a grease removal agent for fabrics, as a spot removal agent for manufactured articles, as a dry-cleaning agent or as a solvent. In regards to the latter, industrial use usually takes place in a closed circuit in Europe; proper control of the process should thus limit residual concentrations.
